The INTERSOS HR Department comprises the Recruitment, Management, Admin, Deployment, and Personnel Development Units. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain experience across two vital HR functions: Recruitment and Learning & Development. The Recruitment team manages the selection of international staff and interns, ensuring prompt, quality placements of candidates with suitable competencies, adaptability, and technical skills. The Learning & Development Unit facilitates and promotes the organization's L&D policy and procedures at both Headquarters and Mission levels, focusing on staff development, talent identification, career progression, and retention.
General purpose of the position
At the end of this comprehensive internship, the HR Intern will have acquired a good understanding of both recruitment processes within a humanitarian context and the implementation of learning and development activities. They will gain practical experience in various stages of the selection process, from needs assessment to candidate finalization and roster management. Concurrently, they will learn about organizing and facilitating L&D initiatives, including inductions, specialized training, and talent development programs. The intern will develop a basic understanding of the profiles, specificities, and challenges of international HR in a humanitarian organization, bridging the critical connection between attracting and developing talent.
Main responsibilities and tasks:
Recruitment Support:
Follow-up with candidates identified by recruiters.
Publish vacancies on internal and external channels.
Conduct references and background checks for shortlisted candidates.
Manage the rejection process for non-selected candidates and maintain the HR roster.
Oversee the IMP platform and archive candidate documents.
Participate in recruitment processes for junior staff.
Manage the weekly recruitment status page.
Learning & Development Support:
Promote and facilitate monthly General Standard Inductions.
Support the promotion and facilitation of R.O.L.E. (Refresher on Learning & Experiences).
Assist in the promotion and facilitation of specific technical training through the application of the L&D Policy in Missions abroad.
Support the promotion and facilitation of Retention Rate monitoring activities.
Participate in coordination activities with the L&D Team, Department bilaterals, and IT weekly meetings.
Monitor online forms dedicated to training needs (Section 6 of the Internal Review Process) and assist with their analysis.
Perform any other tasks related to L&D processes and KPIs as required.
Required profile and experience
Education
An ongoing degree in Human Resources, Humanities, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field is strongly desirable.
The intern will have hold a student status for the whole duration on the internship.
Professional Experience
Previous volunteering experience or a desire to work in humanitarian organizations is an asset.
A strong interest in HR, recruitment, and learning & development is a must.
