Summary Position Description: The Education and Field Building (EFB) Program Manager of The Anna Trust develops and oversees activities that a) build the skills and capacities of Catholic sisters and laity to serve and accompany elderly sisters with dignity and/or b) further develop the knowledge base for such services. The position’s focus is global, with particular attention to low resource situations. The position is full time located in Rome, Italy and reports to The Anna Trust Executive Director.


Responsibilities

• Capacity Building Program Development and Oversight

Strategy and Plans

- Consistent with the overall strategic direction of The Anna Trust,develop a detailed strategy for education and capacity building initiatives, including clear objectives and an approach to scale

- Develop a three-year implementation plan, and update regularly

- Develop outputs and outcomes metrics for the plan


Program Content Development

- With technical experts, define the education/capacity building program content such that it adds to, but does not replicate, other elderly care education and capacity building initiatives focused on Catholic Sisters

- Ensure content is complementary to and builds on the work of the Cognitive Impairment and Support Initiative (CISI)

- Develop advisory groups as needed, ensuring value to content development not otherwise available through other organizations or sources


Implementation

- Implement the content and plan, ensuring efficiency of effort and with constant attention to the need to add to and not replicate other efforts

- Create organizational and expertise partnership that will allow implementation at scale

- Create and oversee a measurement system to ensure an understanding of the impact of education/capacity building efforts. Maintain metrics, and provide guidance on any adjustments needed over time


• Research and Knowledge Building

Strategy and Plans

- Consistent with the overall strategic direction of The Anna Trust, develop a detailed strategy research and knowledge building, including clear objectives and an approach to scale

- Develop a three-year implementation plan, and update regularly

- Develop outputs and outcomes metrics for the plan


Program Content Development

- With technical experts, define and prioritize a research and knowledge building action list that advances the work of elderly sisters services and care, advances financial and organizational sustainability of elderly sisters care, and produces clearly actionable information.

- Ensure content is complementary to and builds on the work of others

- Monitor the global elder care knowledge landscape to ensure that the work of others is not duplicating The Anna Trust priority content areas for Catholic sisters; work to eliminate duplication except where a need for validity is Paramount


Implementation

- Implement the content and plan, ensuring efficiency of effort and with constant attention to the need to add to and not replicate other efforts

- Create organizational and expertise partnership that will allow implementation at scale

-  Create and oversee a measurement system to ensure an understanding of the impact of education/capacity building efforts


• Communications and Advocacy

- Constantly interact with Catholic sisters globally to understand research, knowledge and advocacy needs, perspectives and priorities

- Based on learnings from all areas of education and knowledge creation, develop an advocacy agenda by 2027, manage its clearance with The Anna Trust governance, and pursue opportunities to communicate the needs of elderly sisters and the relationships between those needs and solutions and the needs of larger society

- Develop regular reports for public issuance, working with the Executive Director and The Anna Trust Board

- Ensure web content is up to date; work with Communications to ensure that social media attention grows with the work portfolio

- Assist in staffing the Program Committee of the Board; ensure that the Executive Director has real-time information on Education and Knowledge Building programs status and trends


• Collaboration

- Ensure close alignment and communication with the Executive Director in the priorities, pursuit, and performance of areas under EFB responsibility

- Work closely with fundraising to ensure increased flows of resources for EFB work

- Work closely with the Director of CISI to prevent duplication and take advantage of areas of close alignment

- Communicate with other relevant UISG programs, and those of other institutions, to ensure that the services and support needed by Catholic sisters globally reaches scale


• Administration

- Work closely with the Executive Director to track all relevant expenditures against budgets, and ensure that all work is on or under budget

- As needed and requested take on other areas of The Anna Trust program administration to ensure efficiency and efficacy

Skills and Experience

- Technical knowledge of elder care issues and needs

- At least 10 years experience establishing education, knowledge-building, and research programs and partnerships globally in areas of human need

- Multilingual in Italian and at least English and Spanish

- Excellent written and verbal communications skills

- Experience in working within cross-cultural settings.
